Lucy Stewart's fine versions of traditional ballads and songs are rightly celebrated. But she as also a storyteller, and said proudly she had won prizes for her telling abilities. (I think this was when she was at school, for she was not known to have ever performed in public, but in her own kitchen.)
Lucy told 50+ stories to Ken Goldstein in her kitchen in 1960.
In 2024 Pauline Cordiner selected some of Lucy's stories to retell.
Born and raised in Aberdeen on the North-East coast of Scotland, Pauline discovered storytelling in 2001 and has been telling stories at local events and festivals as far away as Glastonbury ever since.
Her favourite stories to tell are traditional Scottish tales, folk tales from around the world, stories passed on by her family and some she has written herself. She also enjoys using stories to raise awareness of science, history and the environment.

Pauline also sings traditional songs and ballads, and has been privileged to learn from some of Scotland’s most respected traveller and folk singers. She retains a strong love of prehistory and is one of the founder members of The Rhynie Wifies, an all-female Iron Age re-enactment group based in Aberdeenshire.
She loves to perform in costume and often uses instruments and puppets to engage with the audience. Pauline enjoys telling stories to groups of all ages and loves to encourage interaction with the crowd, bringing them into the storytelling experience.
